Why do I need a shop account?
You need an account for the Pottermore Shop just so we can save your books in one secure and easy-to-access place - called 'My books'.
Please note, your sign-in details for the Pottermore Shop are not the same as those for pottermore.com - your shop account is separate.
How do I create a shop account?
It's free and easy to create an account for the Pottermore Shop. You will be prompted to create an account as part of making a purchase. Alternatively, to create a shop account:
- Click the Create a shop account link
- Enter your first name, last name, and email address
- Create a password
- Choose a security question and provide an answer
- Select your county of residence
- Choose which language to use when we contact you
- Tell us if you would like to receive news and offers from Pottermore and our partners
- Read and accept the Terms & Conditions of the Pottermore Shop
- Click the 'Create my shop account' button - you're now ready to buy, download or gift the Harry Potter books
I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
Just go to the Forgotten password page and we'll send you a link to reset it. Please note, your password needs to contain a minimum of six characters, with a mixture of numbers and letters.
How do I change my password?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Personal details'. Here you can update your password, which needs to contain a minimum of six characters, with a mixture of numbers and letters.
I have forgotten my security question and/or answer. What should I do?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Personal details'. Here you can update your security question and answer.
How do I change the email address I use to sign in to my shop account?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Personal details'. Here you can update your email address.
I have forgotten the email address I use to sign in to my shop account. What should I do?
If you have various different email addresses, but can't remember which one you registered with, try out a few different combinations first. If this doesn't work please Contact us and we'll try to help.
How do I remove a saved card?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Saved cards'. Here you can view your cards and remove those which have expired or that you no longer wish to use.
How do I change my saved card information?
For security reasons, you cannot edit your saved cards. You can only remove cards that you no longer wish to use, or add new cards when you are at the checkout.
How do I change my marketing preferences?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Account preferences'. Here you can change your marketing preferences.
How do I change the language you use to contact me?
Sign in to the Pottermore Shop, click on the 'My shop account' link at the top right of the page, and go to 'Account preferences'. Here you can change the language we use when we contact you.
How do I delete my shop account?
We hope you don't want to leave us, but if you do decide to close your Pottermore Shop account for whatever reason, please click the Contact us link, choose 'Account details' within the 'Reason you are contacting us' list, then select 'Other enquiry about my Pottermore Shop account'. Please also include relevant details and we will try to help as quickly as possible.
Please note if you delete your account you will lose any spare copies of the books purchased and kept in 'My books'.
What information is stored about me?
We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of users of the Pottermore Shop and strive to make it a safe and secure experience for everyone. You are required to provide the following information to create an account and this is the only information we store about you:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address (or your parent or guardian's if you are under 18)
- Your password for the Pottermore Shop
- Your security question and answer
- Your country of residence
- The language you would prefer us to use when we contact you
- Your marketing preferences (if you want to receive offers and information from Pottermore and our partners)
If you purchase a book from the Pottermore Shop, you can also choose to save your credit or debit card details so you can pay quicker the next time you visit us. If you select this quick-payment option, you can rest assured that we have security measures in place to ensure that this information is protected.
